More than 55 prospective volunteers attended CSV’s September kick-off event, a strong turnout according to executive director, Jen Fries. After a brief welcome by Fries, CSV’s soon-to-be volunteers divided into an elementary/middle school group and a high school group. Both groups would spend the next 90 minutes learning more about the Cambridge public schools, the nuts and bolts of getting started as a volunteer, as well as tackle the paperwork needed to begin. Several “veteran” volunteers were on hand to share their personal experiences from past years.
CSV has already registered almost 400 volunteers for its many programs, at all elementary/middle schools and at CRLS. But we still need many additional volunteers at all levels. Did you tinker with science projects as a kid and could you now help mentor students on the Science Olympiad team? Are you thinking of changing careers and wondering what it’s like these days in a kindergarten class? Could you spend an hour per week helping middle school students with homework? Join us for one of our on-going orientations that can make YOU a Cambridge School Volunteer! Just click on one of our two sites (elementary/middle or high school) to register for an orientation.
