We need you!  Beginning in September 2017, Cambridge School Volunteers has a variety of volunteer needs. Sign up for a new volunteer orientation here.  These are some of the most urgent needs that we anticipate:

Upper School Opportunities (Grades 6–8)

Genzyme Reading Buddies Honor an 11-Year-Old AuthorAfter-school tutors, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in five Learning Centers. We provide structure and training. There is a special orientation for new Learning Center volunteers on September 20th, or sign up for any of our new volunteer orientations here.

Before-school tutors, from 8:00 to 8:55 a.m. in several upper schools.

High School Opportunities

Before-school tutors (7:30 to 8:00 a.m.), in all subjects.

After-school tutors (2:45 to 3:45 p.m.), in all subjects.

Academic Support during the school day in the Tutoring Center

College and Career Mentors to help seniors with the college essay and application process, primarily on Wednesday afternoons, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Orientation for College and Career Mentors is on September 19, 2017, or sign up for any of our new volunteer orientations if you cannot come Sept 19.

Science Olympiad advisers to help students prepare for a particular event in your area of STEM expertise.

Classroom Assistants, as requested by CRLS teachers.

Elementary (K–5) School Opportunities

Intergenerational Math tutors (Grades 1–3) to help students who are struggling to understand math.

Literacy tutors and Publishing Center volunteers to help young students learn to read and write (Grades 1–3).

Before-school tutors (7:30 to 8:00 a.m.), in all subjects.

Reading Buddies volunteers read aloud weekly with young students in East Cambridge on Tuesdays at lunchtime (12:00-1:00).

Classroom and Library volunteers, as requested by teachers and librarians.
