We need you! It’s October, and on behalf of students and teachers, Cambridge School Volunteers is recruiting for variety of volunteer needs for the new school year. Sign up for a new volunteer orientation here. These are some of the most urgent needs that we have:
Upper School Opportunities (Grades 6–8)
After-school tutors, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, in five Learning Centers. We provide structure and training. Sign up for any of our new volunteer orientations here.
High School Opportunities
Before-school tutors (7:30 to 8:00 a.m.), in all subjects.
After-school tutors (2:45 to 3:45 p.m.), in all subjects.
After-school tutors for Athletes (2:35 to 4:15 p.m.), especially in the sciences and math.
Academic Support during the school day in the Tutoring Center.
College and Career Mentors to help seniors with the college essay and application process, primarily on Wednesday afternoons, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Science Olympiad advisors to help students prepare for a particular event in your area of STEM expertise. Attend a special orientation on November 9th.
Classroom Assistants, as requested by CRLS teachers.
Elementary (K–5) School Opportunities
Literacy tutors and Publishing Center volunteers to help young students learn to read and write (Grades 1–3).
Reading Buddies volunteers read aloud weekly with young students in The Port neighborhood on Tuesdays at lunchtime (12:00-1:00).
Classroom and Library volunteers, as requested by teachers and librarians.
