Meet Julie Loh, CSV’s new Intergenerational Math Program (IMP) director! She joins the CSV staff with an impressive resume as a teacher in both early childhood and elementary education.
Julie is in charge of interviewing, placing and monitoring the more than 25 IMP tutors who have already been matched one-to-one with young elementary students at-risk in math, in several K-5 schools. Passionate about teaching, Julie was drawn to CSV as the position allows her to support many students, in many classrooms, throughout the school day. She has had several years of experience as a classroom teacher while living in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Originally from Pennsylvania, Julie earned both an undergraduate and graduate degree from UCLA.
Julie’s enthusiasm for being with young students, working with classroom teachers and training the volunteers has already proven to be a great asset for CSV. She appreciates meeting the new volunteers for the first time and laying out the expectations for their work, whether as one-to-one or small group tutors. She finds CPSD teachers to be hard-working and supportive of the early math program.
In addition to her experience in both early childhood and elementary education, Julie also brings other interests and skills. She is fluent in conversational Mandarin, is a new mom to a 5-month old, loves to hike and has worked at the Boston Children’s Museum. Julie’s goal is to continue to recruit more IMP volunteers and support the positive relationships between volunteers and teachers, a role that she has already successfully begun. Welcome Julie!
