Meet Alvin Benjamin Carter III – museum studies expert, hip hop archivist, digital media producer, and CSV’s newest Board member. Alvin has recently joined the Board and is about to begin his first CSV tutoring experience as well, as a College Ready mentor. Welcome Alvin!
A Cambridge resident who is taking on his first Board role, Alvin brings a wealth of talent and expertise in so many mediums. After graduating from Northeastern University with a degree in Music Industry, he took on various jobs while attending Harvard’s Extension School, from which he received a Master of Liberal Arts in Museum Studies. His employment experience has included everything from the technical to the instructional. Alvin has taught classes on museum studies as well as courses on the many website platforms used by a variety of organizations. He has also managed all aspects of Harvard’s Hiphop Archive and Research Institute, including content, program development, and more. Currently Alvin is the Website and Multimedia Coordinator at Harvard Art Museums.
CSV is delighted to welcome Alvin to its ranks as both Board member and volunteer. As he explains, “Joining the Cambridge School Volunteers Board presents the amazing opportunity of having a positive effect on the community. I am looking forward to helping advance CVS’s mission and focusing on fundraising in innovative ways.” And we at CSV feel the same! We look forward to working with Alvin in many capacities, all of which will benefit the work we do with Cambridge public school students.
